EMDR therapy has been the core of my practice for the past eight years. EMDR intensives offer extended, uninterrupted time to process distressing memories, patterns, or nervous system responses that may feel challenging to address in traditional weekly therapy. This format is ideal for individuals who feel “stuck,” are managing complex schedules, or prefer deeper work within a structured therapeutic setting.
EMDR is one of the most effective and well-researched trauma therapies available. It works by helping the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they can be stored in a healthier way. After trauma, the brain’s chemistry and stress response can become dysregulated. EMDR supports the brain in returning to a healthy, balanced state, allowing the nervous system to calm and healing to occur.
• 1.5-hour, 3-hour, and 5-hour formats. Extended 3- and 5-hour intensives are thoughtfully structured with restorative breaks as needed, as well as guided relaxation exercises to support comfort, focus, and effective trauma processing throughout the experience.
EMDR intensives are private-pay services and are not typically reimbursed by insurance due to session length and structure. The goal is to accelerate meaningful change by using longer, focused sessions that allow for deeper therapeutic work. This format provides the time needed to strengthen coping strategies, process underlying patterns, and create lasting breakthroughs in a shorter period than traditional weekly sessions.
